Hi all,
I want to create a search index of large files in a standard desktop. After
that I want to replicate the same search index on different Desktops without
requiring additional Index building operation. Of course the assumption is
that same set of files would be copied to the same location even in the new
desktop.

I wonder whether this is supported in the Index server or windows desktop
server?

Is there any other better way of replication of Search indexes?

Thanks in advance.

If the drive you are indexing them on is a FAT or FAT32 drive you can create
your index there and then burn the index to a cd and distribute this cd to
your users.

I think "Tasks > Pause" will come into it.
That makes the catalog read-only - no scanning for updates.

If you search for ways of using Indexing Service for 'Removable Media' ie
CD-ROM
that may help ?
I have seen references to the possibility, but no 'How To' examples !
