What's the successor to Index Server

I'm currently scoping out a search solution for my company. I built a
nice little "proof of concept" front end to Index Server, but I'm
afraid this product is now obsolete. So what is the next and best
iteration of Index Server called? Is it something that's bundled with
Sharepoint, and is that something still free??

Once again answering my own question, but it appears to be "Search
Server 2008 Express".

Looks like a nice product but you do need Sharepoint Services and
Server 2k3 / 2k8
