Hello to all
In windows 2003 server sp1 I indexed 520.000 files, they are .pdf .doc
.txt .ppt.
The directory is about 220 gb

Before, when the direcory that contais the files was smaller, at about
80 gb of data for a specific search i had for example 34 results; now
that the directory is bigger (220 GB) i get only 4 results.

It seems that indexing service forget the older files.

Do You know any limits of indexing service 3 running under windows
2003?

Tnx in advance
Roberto

Hi Roberto

I would empty & rebuild the catalog.

Is 'more files' the only change ?
Or have you changed the search query?
Or just upgraded to Windows 2003 ?
Are new files of all filetypes OK ?
(ie Do you have to re-install the PDF IFILTER to see PDFs ?
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2611)
There are some IFILTER tests in the Windows® Server 2003 R2 Platform SDK

Corpus Size
Index Server has no built-in limits on the number of documents it can handle
or the total size of the corpus. For all practical purposes, it is only
limited by the hardware and the associated systems, such as Windows NT Server
and IIS. As of August 1997, it is known to have satisfactorily handled
several million documents of a corpus spanning several gigabytes of storage
space. Different sites have different needs, so the best way to find out if
your site's scalability requirements are satisfactorily handled is to try
Index Server out.

Hello and tnx to all
I found now the problem
it seems that index server ' forget ' the pdf file that user open from
the query results

Pdf filter 6.0 is correctly istalled and it works fine until a user
open a pdf file. When the user close the pdf file, that file will be no
more available for searches;
it seems that the file opened by a user stay in a locked status or
something like this

How do you get Indexing Services to catalog the file again?

Hello
I get indexing service to catalog the file again by clicking on the
