Alternative to Characterization?

Hi All,

I could really use some help! I have an index that searches through a
directory containing PDF files. Each PDF is unique, but has the same
header text, etc. So, when someone searches for a specific word there
may be 15 hits or more, but every result returned looks identical
since the characterization begins by displaying text contained at the
top of every document. Is there a way for the search results to
return the text surrounding the search string rather than the text
leading the start of the document?

Help please!
Thanks,
Laura

You have to roll your own iFilter for this, or convert the pdf's to text or
to html and use the description metatag.
