Win2003 Indexing Service - No results returned

I have set up indexing service on a windows 2003 server. The query and ASP
search pages work with catalogs that are indexing content from C: drive
locations, however, when indexing content on other drives including network
drives, no content is returned in the search.

The catalog builds successfully and it says how many files have been
indexed, just will not return results.

Can anyone help?

Does the crawl account have read permissions on these remote shares?

Is the crawl account the IIS Admin account? If so then yes, also the local
administrator, network administrator both have full access to the files.

I also double checked that the content was enabled for indexing by index
service

No, its not, open up CIADV.Msc, expand your catalog, expand the directories
folder, right click on it and enter the unc path. Notice how the account and
password options are enabled now. Enter an account here which has rights to
read the share.
