How to Move a Indexing Service Catalog

I can't seem to find a topic that answers this question, I tried
stopping the service but that still brings up the properties as "read
only"...

You can't do it.

The only way you can do it is to create a catalog on a fat or fat32 drive,
index the contents on the fat or fat32 drive, and them burn it onto a cd,
preserving the directory structure.

Then run the searches off the cd.
