Every day the indexing service catalog is empty when I get in, so I
just stop-restart it and off it goes, working until the next day. It
has worked for years... any ideas of what I can check on to see what
is causing this?

It could be a disk error,catalog corruption or other things like that. Are
there any error messages in the event log from CISvc?
